(Old school.) Reporters, industry analysts, customers, vendors, investors and countless others have an interest in any given product or service. Interact with stakeholders online by commenting on blogs, responding to questions or, crazy as it sounds, actually speak with them. Be present whenever and wherever conversations are happening.Somewhere along the line, the PR world forgot the “R” in PR stands for “RELATIONS.” All too often the “pitch” is the first interaction with a reporter. Think about it from their perspective — when a first contact is purely self-serving, defenses go up quickly. With an established relationship, however, the “ask” or pitch becomes easier — almost second nature.
