Have good rankings on Google in my country but not in the US: I'm building links for one of my websites and toda...

I'm building links for one of my websites and today I was checking my rankings and I noticed that if I search on Google.com in my country (Slovakia), I'm on the first page on Google (when I do searches I'm logged out of my Google account). However, when I searched on Google.com using a US proxy, my ranking is a little worse there - I'm on the 3rd page there (I also checked my position in the US using a free rank tool and it shows me on the 3rd page, too). I wonder why the search is different in the US than in my country? And can I now expect that the rankings will be the same in the US soon like they are in my country now?
