Google Ocean View: Maps Now Take You Underwater

Google might not find its Maps welcome on the Apple iPhone 5 , but it is sending them into new places, including under the sea. The firm has added the ability to dive down beneath the surface of the ocean with its latest addition to Street View. The "ocean collection " will let users dive down into "six of the world's most incredible underwater spots, including coral reefs (and their inhabitants) in Australia, the Philippines and Hawaii," says Google by way of introduction on a YouTube video. The release is made possible through a partnership with the Catlin Seaview Survey and users can expect to come face to face with things like turtles, fish, and maybe even sunken pirate ships, though probably not that last one, from the comfort of their desk, tablet or smartphone.
