Do I need a video sitemap?

My question is 'why are you having the videos made? I ask because of your comment: Quote ...having YouTube videos made for our website... I ask because I make videos for my sites - first and for purpose - and then share (some) via YouTube, Vimeo, etc. - for exposure and enticement. If all of one's videos are on YouTube then the level of enticement is severely diminished. Of course Google and YouTube would be thrilled. I also have to say that most websites have no need of the xml sitemap they so religiously create and update on behalf of the SEs. Unless of course their architecture and navigation are truly so horrendous that crawling is difficult... And the same has to be said for the need for a video sitemap. That is not to say that an html (for people) sitemap is not a reasonable and practical addition to a site. And of course a multimedia component may be well worthwhile...
