SEO Chat Forums - Time from publishing a site until it is in the first page

Here is what I have learned after about ten years of doing what you have just done. Four things are important... 1) the quality of your content 2) the strength of your domain 3) the amount of time that has elapsed 4) the type of competitor that you face I started putting up "best of web" content about ten years ago. At first it does not rank very well... a year later it will rank higher in the SERPs.... a couple years later it will be higher still. However, as you get more and more content on your site and more and more people link to your site, query your site by domain name, mention your site, tweet about your site, like your site... the more powerful it will become. The first couple of years that you do this your results will be limited. Then as time goes by your results will improve. Soon new pages on your site start ranking higher right away, and the rise up the SERPs...
