Google Rolling Out SSL Default Worldwide

Last night, Google announced they are rolling out the default SSL search behavior they introduced in October 2011 for Google.com to all their local domain names in the next few weeks. This is a major deal for a few reasons. (1) Google says it will make searchers searching more secure, which it will do. (2) Google says they hope this encourages others to adopt SSL encryption more globally. (3) It will strip out more of the search referral query data from your Analytics reports. This is a big deal for marketers. That being said, ready or not, here it comes. You can read my previous story about the pros and cons over here . Forum discussion at Google+ and WebmasterWorld .
