Glossary

  • Ad Spot - An area where ads are displayed on a webpage. A webpage may contain several ad spots. An ad spot may belong to several ad zones.
  • Ad Zone - A collection of ad spots. Usually grouped together by similar attributes like position on the webpage or subject matter.
  • CPC - Cost per click
  • CPM - Cost per thousand impressions
  • CTR - Click through rate = clicks / impressions
  • Impression - An impression is when an ad is displayed. A thousand impressions is when an ad is displayed 1000 times.
  • Max. SoV - Maximum SoV. Usually used as part of an advertiser's bid, the maximum SoV he is bidding for.
  • Smart Bid - See Smart Bids
  • SoV - Share of View. Refers to a percentage share of views. An advertiser is said to have 60% SoV of an ad spot when his ads are shown there 60% of the time.
